This is a much-needed service, particularly to the Broadway Shopping Centre and RPA Hospital.

Please spread the word to your friends and family.

REMEMBER to arrive a few minutes early and wave the bus down to ensure it stops!

ACTION at last on Pirrama Park wharf!

In our two years of sustained lobbying for improved public transport for Pyrmont with TfNSW and City of Sydney, a key issue has been the return of the F10 ferry service to Pirrama Park. The current route is restricted to Glebe/Barangaroo return. We were told the ferry would be reinstated but the wharf needed repairs before the service could recommence.

On Friday 18 Oct we were delighted to see the pontoon towed away for refurbishment. The works are planned for completion by mid-January 2025. We look forward to the return of the F10 ferry soon after.

Recognition and thanks must go to Alex Greenwich MP for his continuing strong support and time given to our ongoing campaign.

FURTHER UPDATE 22.10.24

The new Pyrmont to Redfern Village to Village return bus service via Glebe, Broadway and RPA, currently operating Thursdays and Fridays only.

If you are not yet aware of this service please see our previous posts and this link to the Access Sydney Community Transport website: https://accesssydney.org.au/

PLEASE NOTE:
Patrons waiting for the Village to Village Green Bus need to wave the driver down. This will ensure the bus is only pulling over for V2V patrons, not others waiting at the stop for regular bus services.

A new timetable and additional bus stops will be released very soon, and we will update you as soon as they are available.

PPPTF Meeting with TfNSW and City of Sydney

October 10th, 2024

Attending: Bruce and Lesley Bentley, Lyn Tyson, Judy Rapley PPPTF, Emelda Davis, Alex Greenwich MP (and staff), Sebastian Smyth City of Sydney, Robert Rosadi TfNSW, Jessica Lines TfNSW.

389 bus stop Murray Street - the curb space outside the light rail station has been approved by the City of Sydney. Final operational details are being confirmed.

389 bus stop mid-city - 32-36 York Street has been supported by the City of Sydney. Clarence Street for the return 389 bus trip is under investigation.

501 bus route - options are being investigated mid next year and will be open for community feedback. This timing is due to a WestConnex ongoing traffic review and the opening of the new Sydney Fish Markets.

F10 ferry - no update provided despite Tonkin Engineering preparing a report on the condition of the Pirrama Park Wharf for Place Management NSW after visiting on May 15th.

The City of Sydney representative was across all of the issues, but the two TfNSW representatives seemed unaware of the PPPTF campaign, and the progress made over the past two years.

This was in stark contrast to previous meetings with TfNSW. It was disappointing because, following our meeting on June 25th with TfNSW and City of Sydney, we expected to be given dates at this meeting for implementation of the new 389 bus stops and the ferry run.

Given the lack of real progress, Alex Greenwich is requesting a follow-up meeting before Christmas.

                                                                                   UPDATE!! 14.10.24

Pyrmont Village to Village Community Bus Service

Additional bus stops - Access Sydney will be adding more bus stops to the Pyrmont route and publishing the updated timetable within the next couple of weeks. The time trials are not yet complete because this run started in the school holidays when traffic was lighter than normal.

Wheelchair and walker accessibility - All Access Sydney buses can take walkers, but there are only 12 buses with wheelchair accessibility. It is important that the wheelchair user contacts Access Sydney Community Transport on 8241 8000 prior to going on the bus, preferably a day or so before.

Who can use this bus? - Anyone can use the free service regardless of age.

Further information - see Access Sydney website https://accesssydney.org.au/

 The Sydney Morning Herald 12.09.2024

'Labor also vowed before the state poll early last year to create two new ferry stops at Rozelle Bay in Annandale and at Pirrama Park wharf in Pyrmont, and to review frequency of services to Drummoyne.'

Progress is being made! 25.06.24

Significant work has been undertaken behind the scenes with extensive consultation between Alex Greenwich MP, TfNSW, City of Sydney and PPPTF. Transport acknowledges Pyrmont needs to better connect people with health, education and retail precincts. Opportunities to improve those connections will be considered as part of the Medium-Term Bus Plan.

In the short term the following update is provided:

1.     389 Bus

Pyrmont bus stops. Subject to further consultation with the City of Sydney Local Traffic Committee, work will commence to enable use of the existing Big Bus stop, in Murray Street (near the Maritime Museum). Buses will then continue their journey and turn around in Darling Drive to commence the next journey to Bondi Junction from a new bus stop outside of the Pyrmont Bay Light Rail Station.

CBD bus stop. TfNSW has acknowledged the preference for a bus stop on York Street as north as possible from Market Street. With the opening of the Metro City section in August and adjustments to bus patterns there may be an opportunity for a bus stop in the vicinity of the preferred location. A stop has also been requested on Clarence Street for the return route of the 389-bus to Pyrmont.

2.     501 Bus Route

Changes to the bus route 501 are being investigated. They are likely to differ between inbound and outbound routes. Community consultation will be undertaken by Transport for NSW before any changes are made.

3.     F10 Ferry

Transport for NSW is working with Placemaking NSW and ferry operator Transdev to have the Pirrama Park wharf returned as an F10 ferry stop. Transdev has assessed the wharf and identified issues. Placemaking NSW has engaged maritime engineers to identify repairs required, cost and timing. Transport is ready to implement the service once the wharf is deemed ready for commuters.

4.     Light rail hours extended

They were 6:00am – 11:00 pm, they are now 5:00am – 1:00am.

A further update is anticipated during September 2024.

Thank you! to all who supported our Pyrmont Peninsula Public Transport Forum during the past two years.

We are pleased to say that PPPTF's advocacy, forums, petitions, meetings and support from Alex Greenwich have been successful in having the hours of the DULWICH HILL LINE LIGHT RAIL increased from 6am-11pm to 5am-1am to match Sydney's other light rail lines.

There is more news to come in the next few weeks regarding the Pirrama Park ferry, the 389 bus stops and the 501 bus route.

Thank you to our guest speakers at the PPPTF and TfNSW Bus Task Force Forum and Workshop at

The Station venue, Pyrmont, on 27 September.

We were privileged to hear from Alex Greenwich MP (Parliament of NSW), Dr Majorie O'Neill MP (Parliamentary Secretary for Transport), Councillor Emelda Davis (City of Sydney), David Babineau (Rail, Tram and Bus Union), and Alex Gibbs (Pyrmont & Ultimo Chamber of Commerce), and to interact with members of the Transport for NSW Bus Task Force.

We greatly appreciate their continuing support for our campaign for improved public transport in Pyrmont and Ultimo, and the opportunity for members of the public to meet and workshop with the TfNSW Bus Task Force.

The Forum was hosted by Lesley Bentley.

"Local resident's top priorities include securing a bus stop in the centre of the city and in other locations in Pyrmont, ensuring better connections between buses and ferries in Pyrmont, addressing the uncertainty surrounding existing bus stops with the opening of West Connex."

Lesley Bentley, Convenor, Pyrmont Peninsula Public Transport Forum (PPPTF)
